This is an Internal Employment Opportunity

This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Laboratory Technician 1 position for the College of Pharmacy at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position directly supports the research of Dr. Richard van Breemen by performing testing and analysis using standardized tests and recognized laboratory techniques.

Key Responsibilities
40% Performs a variety of standardized laboratory protocols to measure drug metabolism by hepatic enzymes. Work collaboratively with other lab members to contribute to a safe, respectful, and professional work environment.

40% Operates laboratory equipment which includes HPLC, LC-MS, etc.

10% Receives, logs, and accepts samples for analysis; determines which tests must be performed; prepares specimens or samples for analysis (identifies, labels, weighs, etc.).

10% Maintains accurate and up to date experimental records; writes reports showing results of tests and analysis; transmits laboratory results to PI.
What We Require
One year of experience in a laboratory setting and high school courses in chemistry, biology, mathematics, or any course which included laboratory work; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience. NOTE: An Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science may substitute for the required experience.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have
Bachelor of Science in biochemistry or a closely related area.
Familiarity with column chromatography, HPLC, MS, NMR, and drug metabolism.
Experience using MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and ChemDraw.
Experience with maintaining lab records and handling hazardous materials.
