Job Description
Job Summary/Basic FunctionThe Instructional Systems Administrator I will provide administration, development, and support for campus software management platforms hosted in the University's data centers and the cloud. The ISA will serve as a system administrator for campus learning management system(s) and other learning-based systems. Responsibilities include managing the LMS and third-party integrations, using tools like D2L, Canvas, Panopto, Zoom, Office 365 applications, Banner, Oracle, Active Directory, etc. The role includes developing and delivering training for students, faculty, and staff on all MTSU learning systems, as well as ensuring the functionality of classroom and online technologies. The ISA will also assist the web team as needed in web page design or creation.
Required Education
Master's Degree preferably in education, technology, or a closely related technical discipline, or a Bachelor’s degree in education, technology, or a closely related field plus two (2) years of progressively responsible, related experience. Five (5) years of related experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Required Related Experience
Required Related Experience: 1 year of full-time experience administering enterprise LMS (Learning Management System) platforms, including basic web design experience and experience integrating third-party learning tools with LMS and student information systems.
Desirable Related Experience
- Canvas administration highly preferred.
- Experience in a conversion project from one LMS to another in higher education setting. Managing this project or more is a plus.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP, HCM, or EPM, particularly in training users or supporting system adoption in higher education (e.g., guiding staff on Oracle HCM self-service features).
- Demonstrated commitment to staying current with academic technology trends (e.g., AI-driven learning tools, analytics platforms) through certifications or professional development.
- Experience with IT service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow) for managing faculty and staff support requests.
- Basic experience creating visually appealing training materials or infographics using multimedia tools to support user adoption.
- 2+ years of experience creating and delivering high-level training for end-users on campus technologies, tailored to diverse audiences, including knowledge base articles, job aids, video support, and face-to-face instruction.
- 3+ years of experience providing technical support for faculty, staff, and students, resolving enterprise system issues with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
