A postdoctoral scientist position is immediately available in Department of Neurobiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland. This new 5-year NIH supported position (PIs, Drs Fuwen Zhou and Adam Puche) will conduct experiments spanning from the genome to cells, to circuits, and to behavior, to uncover the cellular and molecular mechanisms of olfactory dysfunction associated with aging and Alzheimer’s disease, using electrophysiological (including in vivo and in vitro), optogenetic, chemogenetic, fiber photometry, multiphoton imaging, immunohistochemical, molecular biological (e.g., single cell PCR), pharmacological and genetic manipulation (knockdown and overexpression), stereotaxic and behavioral techniques. We are seeking a creative, self-motivated, recent graduate who has strong experimental experience in electro- or opto-physiology and the drive to pursue challenging, rigorous studies in the olfactory sensory signaling and circuitry. The fellow will have an important role in the design and execution of projects, as well as presenting and publishing their results. Salary is commensurate with experience. Interested applicants with a PhD in neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, cell biology, or related disciplines should send a CV, statement of research interests (optional) and the names of 2-3 references to: Dr. Fuwen Zhou via e-mail: [email protected].
