This position provides administrative, financial, and operational support to the North Dakota Forest Service and serves as a key member of the administrative team. The role supports office operations, financial processes, and program coordination across multiple service areas This position helps strengthen administrative capacity, improve efficiency, and provides depth of support for critical agency functions, including financial tracking, records management, and program support.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 40 hours per week

Work Location: Bismarck office

Hiring Range: $42,000–$54,000 +DOE

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate Degree in Business Administration or related emphasis

Or 3 years of equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or office management

Accounting and office management experience

Computer technology proficiency

Knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft

Familiarity with North Dakota state government policies and/or North Dakota University System policies

Exposure to field-based or emergency response programs (e.g., wildfire response) and/or an interest in learning how administrative and financial processes support operational teams

Core Competencies:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of administrative procedures and office management; proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher) and other office equipment.

Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and reliability. Highly adaptable and receptive to change, with the ability to effectively manage shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a positive, service-oriented approach. Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and solve problems effectively. Demonstrates a strong commitment to customer service and organizational success.
