Description
The work of the Coordinator is structured to support the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Priorities of both UNE and the Saco Watershed Collaborative (SWC). The Coordinator is also accountable to the SWC's Sustainability Committee, which is charged with ensuring the project's long-term sustainability.
The Coordinator is expected to initiate "high-touch" front-line interaction with UNE students, faculty, staff, community members, and other stakeholders. The Coordinator will build strong relationships within the UNE community, the SWC, the region and beyond, especially those relationships that are supportive of student learning, in a respectful, safe, and inclusive manner.
The Coordinator is responsible for providing front line administrative, supervisory, and programmatic services to the SWC. The Coordinator is "the face of the Saco Watershed Collaborative" - and plays an essential role in modeling many principles, ranging from diversity, equity, and inclusion to environmental health, wellness, and long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities
Planning, Coordinating, Facilitating, and Evaluating Collaborative Meetings
  • Event Coordination: Coordination of event logistics, agenda development and other associated administrative tasks as well as any corresponding follow up for a variety of events to include but not limited to:
    • Develop and coordinate 3-6 field trips per year;
    • Coordinate and facilitate in-person quarterly, monthly and annual meetings;
    • Leadership and/or facilitation of committee meetings to achieve the strategies in the SWC's Action Plan.

  • Intern Supervision
    • Develop a list of tasks for UNE intern(s) to assist in advancing SWC's Action plan.
    • Provide instruction and structure for UNE intern(s) to thrive and gain real-world experience in multi-disciplinary project and setting.
    • Mentor UNE intern(s) and develop internships with real-world opportunities.

Stakeholder Engagement and Participation
  • Develop and implement a Communication Plan with the SWC Steering and/or Education and Outreach Committees to maximize stakeholders' engagement and participation.
  • Marketing and brand management
    • Maintain public relations, social media and overall online presence for the SWC.
    • Design and maintain www.sustainthesaco.org website.
  • Engage and perform general outreach to current and new SWC partners.
    • Represent the SWC at meetings/conferences.
    • Develop "welcome packet" of materials for new members.
  • Support SWC efforts with UNE + other partners that engage students (e.g., Saco Salmon Restoration Alliance and Hatchery, Maine Water Company, Biddeford Conservation Commission, etc.).
  • Update the SWC Strategic Action Plan annually.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Sustainability or Communication preferred and a minimum of two years relevant experience required or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Experience in supervising interns is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working effectively within a collaborative environment
  • Ability to meet and enforce deadlines, take initiative, and work independently to carry out complex assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to working as a team member.
  • Superior communication (written and oral), interpersonal, ambassadorial, presentation, and organizational skills. Target audiences include students, faculty, staff and a wide range of stakeholders (i.e., community members).
  • Commitment to a student-centered, consensus-based approach, demonstrating initiative in reaching out and building relationships.
  • Ability to analyze information and problem solve, both independently and as a leader or team member.
  • Ability to deal effectively and collaborate extensively with a wide range of University personnel and others outside the University.
  • Experience facilitating trainings and workshop presentations.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, if required.
