Summary

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Texas Children's Hospital is currently seeking a Director for its Adult Congenital Heart Failure Service. The role is part of Texas Children's internationally acclaimed Heart Center and is an exceptional opportunity to lead and expand a high-volume, academically driven program within a premier academic health system.

The Heart Failure / Transplant and ACHD services at Texas Children's have a longstanding history of excellence in patient care, research, and training, and this program director will have the opportunity to set direction for future growth and pre-eminence along the various mission lines. This role provides resources and a stimulating, collaborative environment within the Department of Pediatrics and the Baylor College of Medicine.

Job Duties

  • Provide outpatient and inpatient clinical care for adults with congenital heart disease, with a particular emphasis on the management of advanced heart failure and pre-transplant care.
  • Contribute to the growth and innovation of the ACHD Heart Failure and Transplant Program, including quality improvement initiatives and care pathway development.
  • Participate in academic activities including clinical research, teaching fellows, residents, and medical students, and the production of scholarly publications.
  • Participate in shared call coverage for ACHD and/or heart failure and transplant services.
  • Evaluate referring provider needs and partners with leadership to develop consistent communication of Heart Failure and Transplant processes and patient care results.
  • Provide clinical guidance and leadership to medical and nursing staff.
  • Role model ethical and professional behavior with every interaction.
  • Provide strategic leadership for growth and development of the program at large.

Minimum Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have completed fellowships in Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease, with subsequent training and/or experience in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation, and be board-eligible or certified in Cardiology and ACHD.
